Pulmonary Function Test (PFT) comprise multiple breathing tests such as Pulse Oximetry, Bronchodilator Tests, Lung Volume Testing, Spirometry, Walking Tests, and other medical tests, if any. These tests evaluate lung volume during inhale and exhale, airflow rate, gas exchange efficiency, and more. All PFTs should be carried out under the supervision of the registered respiratory therapist at a trusted respiratory centre.

Your PFT will be conducted by our friendly and experienced respiratory therapist. Here’s what the process looks like:
PFT involves deep breathing tests; so you might feel a little tired, or dizzy, or lightheaded, based on the severity of your lung condition. If your respiratory condition is worse, you might experience troubled breathing or coughing . However, these symptoms will only last for a few minutes after the test. You can resume your daily activities as usual, and follow the necessary precautions and medications suggested by your respiratory therapist after the test.

No, PFTs are non-invasive and painless. You may feel slightly short of breath or light-headed briefly during the breathing maneuvers, but the test is generally well tolerated and safe.
Most PFTs take about 30 to 45 minutes to complete, depending on the number and type of tests performed. You can resume your normal activities immediately afterward.
